How to set up a Virtual Classroom?

What is a virtual classroom?

An online virtual classroom is a learning environment where teachers present their study materials and conduct classes in an online mode. Through virtual classes, it is possible to conduct group activities, examinations, and assess the students overall progress. In an online virtual classroom, there is a live and real-time interaction between the educators and the students.

How virtual classrooms are beneficial

There are many ways a virtual classroom set up is beneficial to both the students and the educators, some of them are –

Enriched Learning Experience

Students can enjoy an enriching learning experience through virtual classes. Various activities like polls and quizzes make for a lively learning session. There are a plethora of options to display learning materials such as documents, powerpoint presentations or multimedia files.

Breakout rooms

In order to personalize the learning experience at the virtual classroom set up, the teacher can divide the class into breakout rooms. Each room can have an instructor or moderator and the students in groups of three or four or five can engage in a lively discussion on the topic. The teacher would be able to join any of the groups or switch between groups at any time.

Recorded sessions

The virtual classroom sessions can be recorded. The teachers or students can access the recorded sessions at any time as per their requirements. The recorded sessions can be used for reference purposes.

Accessibility

No matter where the students are residing, they can easily access the virtual classroom as long as they have the required device with them. This offers a flexibility to students to consume content and receive education on the course from anywhere in the globe. They can connect through devices such as smartphones, tablets, laptops or computers.

Progress tracking

It becomes easy for the teachers to track the students progress through virtual classes. Teachers can identify the areas where a student is facing difficulty and help them in that particular aspect. They can track each student’s progress through the learning management system. They can keep track of the student’s grade, assignments, attendance and examination marks through one click.

Camu Virtual Classroom Set Up

Camu provides a space for quality learning experience which will benefit both the teachers and students. The Camu virtual classroom set up consists of –

Attractive audio and video formats

The teachers have an advantage when it comes to using Camu virtual classrooms. They will be provided with options to mix the audio and video content. The presentation will excite the students and create room for better engagement.

QR attendance

In Camu’s virtual classroom set up, students can mark their attendance through a QR code. All they have to do is scan the barcode and their attendance will be recorded. This saves much time for the teachers as they will not have to go through the trouble of checking through the students list and marking their attendance one by one. It also increases transparency as it would not be possible for students to misguide the educators.

Replay sessions

While some students would catch up with the classes at one listening. For some students, it would be preferable to replay the classroom session so they can get a better grasp of the lessons. This proves to be an advantage of virtual classes over physical classes. It would not be possible to replay physical classes, but a student could replay and listen to the virtual classes as many times as they want.

Quick feedback

The teachers or instructors can get instant feedback from the students on how they are coping with the teaching methods. The teachers could conduct polls or quizzes to understand if the students are able to grasp the information. If the teacher finds that they are not able to understand the particular topic, he could repeat the lessons for them as per the feedback received.

Online examinations

Exams can be conducted without any worries at the Camu virtual classroom. In order to ensure that the students are not engaged in any malpractices, unique questions can be designed for each student. The teachers could set Multiple Choice Questions or descriptive questions. They could give the students options to attach files or diagrams to submit their response.

Video conference flexibility

Camu provides an additional feature of video conferencing flexibility. Each institute would have their own unique set of needs and requirements based on the bandwidth and location. As such, the institution can choose a video conferencing system best suited to their bandwidth from a variety of options.
